Contact information for collection agencies is invalid on my credit report. How do I resolve the disputes?
I got a copy of my credit report and sent letters to the various collection agencies asking for them to verify my debt. Three of the letters came back as undeliverable.
I would like to start repairing my credit but since the addresses are no longer valid, what should I do next? I don’t want to send money to agencies that no longer exist/own my debt.
Statute of limitation applies for Paypal collection?
I’ve had a problem with buyer back in 2003. The buyer claimed that he did not receive the order which I did ship. I had (not anymore) the delivery confirmation number and it showed as delivered. But, back then, the delivery confirmation was not as detailed as today’s. Buyer then filed a claim with Paypal which Paypal decided in his favor. My balance went negative and I didn’t pay for it. I thought it wasn’t fair for me to lose my item and money.
A couple of months passed by, the Paypal decided put a limited access to my account. Since then I couldn’t view any of my account information (i.e. balance, profiles and etc..) Thus, I opened up a new Paypal account and started using it since. That was in 2003.
Today, I got an e-mail from Paypal that my account has been limited due to an “unresolved issues with other linked paypal account.” They instructed me to call them, which I just did. Office was closed, so I have to call back again.
Before I call them again, I wanted to know if the Statute of Limitation applies to Paypal collections. I know in California, where I live, it’s 4 years for credit card collections, but does it applies to Paypal too? I’m not sure what I should tell them.
Funny thing is, I’ve been using this account for over six years without a problem and just last night, I updated with new bank information by providing Paypal of my online bank login information. And less then 24 hours later, they locked my account. What information is Paypal pulling from my bank account? It said it was only for verification purposes, but clearly it was not. They used it to track my other accounts. Is it even legal? Geez..
Thank you all. It didn’t exactly answer my questions, but it did give me a reason why I need to settle with them. I can’t use eBay without PayPal account. Talk about monopolizing.. =(
I’m guessing PayPal will demand penalties and interests. I just hope they are not too much.
Thank you all.

Can a collection agency report negative information on a personal credit report for a corporate account?
I am having problems with an account opened through my corporation. First, I did not open the account (separate issue), and am working to get that resolved. In the mean time, a collection agency has reported this account on my personal credit report. Can they legally do this since it is a corporate account? I am trying to find out what the law is regarding this type of thing. I live in California and the corporation is in California also – if that makes a difference. Any informatio would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have two identity theft accounts. Someone use my social security number to apply for SBC and Direct TV. I never receive bills from them. When I found out about these accounts, they already shown as collection on my credit report. These have negative effect on my credit. I called up the collection agency for SBC and told them this is not my account. They are not willing to remove me. I have called up Federal Trade Commission and reported these. They couldn’t do anything about this. I have try to consult free legal aids, they didn’t make any reply!!! How can I remove these identity theft accounts?
