Where should I put my kids money?

I have a little girl who is 2 1/2 and a boy on the way. My girl already has a nice little bit saved up and I would like to make it grow. We give the child tax credit to her every year. I am in the military and I don’t know if I really want to put the kids money in an investment thing that can only be used for college. If the kids want to follow in my footsteps college will be taken care of. I am pretty clueless to investing so any help would be appreciated.

Is there any oneline software or free downloads to manage your finances?

Okay I know I’m only 17 but I want to start early as possible learning how to manage my finance and just have it to were I can go back and analyze my expenses to make sure I’m not spending carelessly. Oh and if there is and online website for managing personal finance would you use it? Or would it probably be best not to because ppl or the gov can easily see what you’ve been doing or something?
Any suggestions?

How can I start saving money now for an expensive summer program next year?

I recently recieved an information packet in the mail about Junior Statesmen Summer School! It’s a 3-week program designed to help high-school students who are interested in politics to get a head start. I am very excited about this opportunity! However, since almost all of the courses are college-level and I am only in eighth grade right now, I want to wait another year before applying. In the meantime, I need to start saving some money. The total cost for the 3 weeks is $4,150! My family will not be able to afford to contribute very much to that. I will apply for a partial scholarship (I’m guessing about $1000-$2000, but I don’t know how much they will give me), but I will have to raise most of the rest of it by myself. I am already babysitting and mowing lawns. What else can I do that will help me earn money?

The Credit Card Song by Old Man Pie

Ahead of its time this is a cartoon animation that’s been up on the web since 2006 and is all about the credit crunch crisis. Credit card spending and loans from banks are in their trillions of dollars and something has to give. We no longer spend what we have earned, we spend what we havn’t earned on the back of house price rises and yet more loans. The banks are prospering and fat cats are awarding themselves massive bonuses, but it cannot continue. Beware the debt time bomb may bring the walls of the western world clattering to the ground. Song arranged and performed by Old Man Pie, with animation by Stuart (formerly of The Pie). Song written by Kyle Christie and (c) Kyle Christie 2006. Credit crunch credit crunch credit crunch!
